Bryan Hodges started his career in IT as an assistant office manager and later office manager at a small, privately held software development company, Morton Data Systems, in Texas. Duties included all of the back office functions necessary to support a customer driven, robust, general accounting package for this software development company. This early experience proved invaluable to understanding the pace and the ever changing dynamics of the IT world.
Moving to Minnesota with the intent of attending college and pursuing a passion for architecture, Mr.Hodges accepted a position with a service bureau company in Burnsville, MN, National Information Systems where he became national account manager. Pre subscription/Equal Access had just been mandated by the FCC and all Bell operating companies were given the opportunity to provide long distance service to their customers as provided by many new long distance carriers. Duties included managing all 17 Bell operating companies distribution of their user’s choices in long distance. This four year run took annual revenues from $2.2 million per year to over $22 million annually at National Information Systems, Inc.
A friendship with Mark Waldrep led to the discussion of forming a company that would specialize in selling used IBM processors and disk packs. This resulted in the sales of primarily IBM Series/1 hardware. In 1987 Mr. Hodges and Mr. Waldrep formed Datatrend Technologies, Inc. Mr. Waldrep’s selling expertise and Mr. Hodges’ office management and process establishment experience proved to be a good match.
Today, Mr. Hodges refers to himself as “The Datatrend Global Overseer” watching all aspects of the company and participating in key decision making processes as well as personnel selections in vital positions within the organization. A goal setter, Mr. Hodges envisions Datatrend growing into a world leader in IT consultancy and service provider.
Throughout the years Mr. Hodges’ has served on several boards which include: Children’s Cancer Research Society, Human Rights Campaign, LMCD, Blind Dog Rescue Alliance, Alternative Rodeo Association(s) benefitting children in need and several Florida not for profit ranches hosting special programs uniting special needs children with the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding and care.
A resident of Sarasota, Florida, Mr. Hodges divides his time between MN and FL.
